Edge Retires...

Before I can touch on anything else, this piece of news needs to be talked about.

Heres the official release from WWE.com
Less than a week after his successful title defense against Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXVII, World Heavyweight Champion Edge has been forced to retire from in-ring competition due to injury. The unexpected news brings to an end a storied WWE career spanning 13 years and consisting of 11 World Title reigns.

The Rated-R Superstar had been suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands. This is not the first time Edge has experienced these symptoms of nueropraxia. An MRI in Atlanta last Monday was sent to Dr. Joseph Maroon, a renowned neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at The Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After careful examination of the MRI, it was determined that Edge would never be cleared to compete again, and thus, he is forced to retire.

In 2003, Edge underwent a two level spinal fusion of the discs between his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae. After being cleared to compete, The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring, resulting in stenosis of the spine, or a narrowing of the spinal column, above and below the fused discs. This narrowing resulted in less and less of the vital fluid needed to protect the spinal cord. Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE since doing so could result in paralysis or even death.
Wow.

At any rate, his last official sendoff will be on Smackdown this Friday where he'll vacate his title.

Thanks for everything Edge.

Fourdown picks for Wrestlemania

In case you don't know about Fourdown.org, its a site where you choose who you think is going to win at the ppv and get ranked against everyone else.  It just adds a whole nother level to the ppvs.  I guess its the closest you can get to gambling on wrestling.

Now, usually, I can make pretty solid predictions.  But I'll be honest, for Wrestlmania, I just went straight for who I wanted to win.  I think it will be more fun that way.

So if you're interested check out Fourdown.org and if you want to see my picks just check them out after the jump.  (lol, I've always wanted to use that)

Cena booed mercilessly Wrestlmania 27 press conference

Ill keep it short today because Im really sick.

Cena was booed so badly that you could barely hear what he was saying at the event. Apparently the footage of the press conference released by WWE was very heavily edited.

Heres an uncensored video of the press conference taken by a fan, as you can see: pretty brutal.

Does he deserve this, or is it just the fans responding to his stale gimmick?

Would a Stone Cold / CM Punk feud be the best feud ever?

I think most people would agree that a CM Punk / Stone Cold feud is just too perfect. And with Stone Cold back involved in WWE for the Cole/Lawler Wrestlemania match and hosting Tough Enough its already got some people talking about the possibilities... including Punk and Stone Cold.

Heres some excerpts from Punk's twitter:

And heres what Stone Cold had to say in his recent interview with Jon Robinson at http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/videogames/blog/_/name/thegamer/id/6273910/stone-cold-stunned-wwe-all-stars?readmore=fullstory

Steve Austin: When you have a storyline like that, and the way CM cuts his promos, I think it would damn sure be entertaining and fans would latch onto it. He's done well in WWE, and I think he's got bigger fish to fry and bigger things to do in that company. I look for big things from him. And damn right, that would be a good program. I would love to be a part of that.

So what do you think?  How awesome would that feud be?  Will we ever see them in the same ring together?

Jerry Lawler's thoughts on his first mania match, similarites to Andy Kaufman fued

http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_48847.shtml

Some highlights:

-"Would I have preferred for it to be a wrestler? Maybe at first. But now, looking back on the way this has all unfolded and the way it's going to be now, I couldn't have had a better opponent. Especially now that it's so reminiscent of the actual Andy Kaufman feud. I mean here, just like Andy, I'm going in the ring against a guy who's never competed," Lawler told Matt Fowler of IGN.com.

-"I just had Vince McMahon tell me, not that long ago, he said, 'Man, you can't imagine. I've never told anyone this but I was actually jealous of the fact that you got to do what you did with Andy Kaufman because I knew that we had the opportunity to do it first and we turned it down. And then all of a sudden you guys were on TV and in New York. You got to be on David Letterman and Saturday Night Live. It just blew up.'"

What does everyone think? Is Cole the new Kaufman? Is their match going to steal the show? Is there ANY way Cole is leaving without a neck brace?

The Korean Zombie pulls off the first ever TWISTER in UFC

I'm a huge Eddie Bravo fan. So needless to say I marked my balls off when Chan Sung Jung pulled off the twister Saturday at UFC Fight Night. Yesterday Eddie Bravo himself uploaded a breakdown of the whole thing. Here it is:

Michael Cole calls Josh Mathews "Faggot" via twitter

http://www.tmz.com/2011/03/26/wwe-glaad-gay-slur-homophobic-twitter-michael-cole-josh-mathews/

Less than two weeks after the WWE and GLAAD teamed up to say they were going to work together to curb homophobic slurs in wrestling, one of the WWE's top announcers tweeted one at a fellow announcer.

Earlier today, Michael Cole simply tweeted one disgusting word towards fellow announcer Josh Mathews. Cole quickly took down the tweet and apologized, posting:

Photobucket

The WWE and GLAAD announced a partnership on March 17 to try and put an end to bullying based on sexual orientation after a series of homophobic taunts was made by wrestler John Cena.

WWE said at the time: "WWE takes this issue very seriously, and has already spoken with our talent about these incidents. We are taking steps and working with GLAAD to ensure that our fans know that WWE is against bullying or discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation."

A rep for the WWE tells TMZ, "WWE has alerted GLAAD to the situation and spoken to Michael Cole about his post. He has removed it and apologized for using hateful language. Michael will be included in the training session being done by GLAAD. WWE takes this very seriously and is against discrimination of any kind based on sexual orientation, gender, race, religion or other."

A rep for GLAAD could not be reached for comment.

Z! True Long Island Story Episode # 6

Zack Ryder has to be one of the most underutilized talents in the wwe right now. I thought his matches with Christin in ECW were some of the best of the year.

UFC Fight Night: Seattle 7pm/10pm PT/ET

So UFC Fight Night: Seattle is tonight and the main event is looking pretty cool. Last time we saw Mr. Wonderful(lol) he submitted Tim Boetsch with a submission he made up.  (That is, if you missed him stopping practice to save a ladybug.)  The guy is an absolute beast, 8-0, and definitely on the up, so it will be interesting to see how Nogueira will handle it.  Nogueira, whose been doing pretty shitty since coming to the UFC (losing to Ryan Bader and winning a decision over Jason Brilz which even Dana White was quoted as saying was bullshit), really needs the win.

Smackdown! NEW 2011 Theme - "Friday" by Rebecca Black

A vast improvement in my opinion.

TNA... sigh

Kurt Angle Arrested for Being Drunk in a Car

Kurt Angle Arrested for Being Drunk in a Car

Wrestling superstar Kurt Angle was arrested early this morning in North Dakota ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... highway patrol in Grand Forks found Angle sitting in his car in the median separating lanes. We're told Angle told cops he had hit an icy patch in the road. During the conversation, cops say they smelled alcohol on Angle's breath. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.

Since cops didn't see Angle driving, he was arrested and later charged with being in control of a motor vehicle while intoxicated -- which basically means he was allegedly drunk behind the wheel but not actually driving.

First post

Im gonna do everyone an egg and open up with some mandatory viewing.
